In Han-ji’s work, the "time of the mountain" comes to life through the idea that even timeless nature carries small, measured traces like tree rings, and that the mountain—where human life overlaps with nature—is divided into property parcels that continually shift ownership. Her experience of seeing bottled drinks lined up on shelves and feeling they resembled crowds of people reflects an interest in typological grids and Optical Art, echoing Andreas Gursky.
This approach frames the mountain both frontally and as a flat plane. By omitting literal house shapes and depicting them as modular units or sections, she achieves an abstraction where each individual square represents "a house," while the composition as a whole embodies the broader concept of "home."
